Anthony Obeng Afrane, Ghana
Anthony Obeng Afrane is a Ghanaian Creative Writer with 11 published titles and over 1,000 published articles.
In 1995, two of his books, "Sorrows of Electricity" and "The Greedy Woman and the Hidden Treasure" won the prestigious Valco Trust Fund Literary Award in Ghana.
"Sorrows of Electricity" is being used in Ghanaian schools as a reader by the Ghana Ministry of Education.
His books, "The Story of Yaa Asantewaa" and "The Saga of a Political Guru" have found their way in the library of the University of California in the USA.
Afrane is a former General Secretary of the Ghana Association of Writers (GAW), and was a Special Assistant to the President of the Republic of Ghana from August, 2015 to January, 2017.
He was the Rapporteur for the Pan African Writers Association International Conference in Djibouti (November 5th – 8th, 2022.)
He is a columnist at the Daily Graphic, which has the largest readership among all the newspapers in Ghana and controls over 60 per cent of the newspaper market, with 1.5 million readers daily.
He also writes for Ghanaweb and ModernGhana which are the two leading online news portals in Ghana.
Obeng Afrane currently works at the Office of the President of the Republic of Ghana as a Senior Presidential Staffer.
Afrane is also a proud farmer.
